 What exactly is a secret trust? Are mutual wills still being used? And are these arrangements ever allowed under Italian law? Looking at recent cases and legislation, our speakers will give us a brief overview of when and how often these agreements are encountered in practice, and the different way in which they are treated in each jurisdiction.

 Dr Sarah Egan, New Square Chambers

Sarah is a specialist Trusts, Wills, and Estates barrister providing advice and advocacy in trusts, succession, estates, and Court of Protection matters, as well as related professional negligence. Her practice covers the full spectrum of contentious probate and Inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependents) Act 1975 claims, trusts, trusts of land and co-ownership, proprietary estoppel, cross-border succession, and non-contentious trusts and probate.

 Notaio Luca Livi

 Dott. Luca Livi is a Notary in Florence. Luca was born in Arezzo on the 6th of August 1966, graduated from the University of Florence in 1989, qualified as a lawyer and became a Notary in Italy.  He is enrolled on the United Districts of Florence, Pistoia and Prato and practises as a Notary mainly in the City of Florence.

In past years, he taught at the Notarial School in Milan in the course of Bond Law and at the Notarial School in Florence in the course of Family Law and Voluntary Jurisdiction.

He currently deals with 'cross-border' transactions in corporate and inheritance matters, collaborating mainly with American and British law firms.
