We are pleased to announce that also this year BILA will support United Italian Societies’ Mentoring Program.
The UIS Mentoring Program aims to boost the career of deserving Italian students by connecting them with Italian professionals from, inter alia, the legal sector.
We invite our members to sign up tp become mentors of a new generation of talented Italian students. For more information on how to become a UIS Mentor, please check their website here.
We are pleased to confirm that we are now accepting submissions for the 2023 edition of the BILA Award.
This year candidates will be asked to write an essay on the subject of: "The European Court of Justice's judgment in joined cases C-37/20 (VM) and C-601/20 (SovimSA)”.
The candidates should analyse the reasoning of the Court and then comment on how the judgment may be relevant to the compatibility of the public access to the UK register of beneficial owners of companies with the principles set out by the European Convention on Human Rights.
For more information check our dedicated webpage.
We are pleased to announce that Ms Elisa Pandolfi has won the 2022 edition of the BILA Award. You can download her essay here. Mr Giovanni Bravi received a special mention from the panel.
We are delighted to inform you that we have added a new social event to our calendar of activities.
On Saturday 11 March we will be meeting with members of the Association of London Welsh Lawyers at the restaurant Mattarello Bolognese (https://mattarellobolognese.uk/), close to Liverpool Street and Aldgate tube stations, for an informal lunch followed by the rugby fixture Wales – v - Italy (kick off is at 2.15pm). We'll be able to celebrate a win / commiserate a loss together over a glass of wine or a pint of beer.
We are negotiating a small package with the restaurant (approx. £30 for lunch + wine) and it would be great if we could confirm numbers with them as soon as possible. If you would like to attend, please get in touch with Pat Deeley at pat.deeley@bila.biz by Wednesday 1 March.
We look forward to seeing you on 11 March, to support out team … and cuisine!
